First, a tune pops into my head. I'm not entirely clear on how this part works but I took Suzuki violin for 16 years, and they train you by ear, not by sight. So that gave me some ability to "hear" a tune, even if it's a new one. The MIDI is terrible. It's not velocity sensitive in most cases, I usually use the pencil and am too lazy to by-hand velocity smooth. The parts I did key in (on a borrowed keyboard), you can hear my brain struggling and slowing down to compensate for my terrible piano skills. The only redeeming qualities of this part is the core tune is kinda catchy, and that the following ones are better.
It's getting a little better now, the bass is an Akai bass sample, same for the woodwinds. My quantization is still foolish at best, and velocity isn't smooth. Knowing my weak production skills, the main goal of this song was to give the gist of it to Paul and Jon, so they could use their superior production abilities to improve it.
